Newdigate United make it 12 games unbeaten with 10 wins and 2 draws from their first dozen games!

Sunday 26th January finally saw the 2025 fixtures get underway for the lads, following a few recent postponements due to the weather.

The game saw a scrappy beginning, with Red Lion (the opponents from Barwell) taking the lead with a well hit strike from the edge of the box. It for sure wasn’t looking to be the most exciting game but a header from Ethan Wood, followed by a Cole Burchell penalty completed the turnaround and it was now 2-1. A spirited Red Lion response resulted in a goal of their own, undoing the hard work the lads had done to get themselves in front. The half-time whistle was near, but it did not come before Sam Leary smashed one into the top corner, re-establishing the lead to 3-2 at the halfway point.

A quiet second half was topped off with a James Sanderson free kick being the only talking point of the second half.

Man of the Match went to number 2 Ethan Wood for his goal and overall performance in what was an all round good display from the right back.

Meet our 3 new sponsored dogs! From left to right we have Henry, Norman and Clover.

Henry is a Golden Retriever/ Labrador mix, his mum’s name is Mara and his Dad’s name is Clover. His favorite things to do are going on long morning adventures, soaking up endless amounts of fuss, and relaxing with his favourite tug toy.

Norman is a Labrador who’s mum and dad are called Puzzle and Carlo. This Lab loves discovering new places, playing with his trusty yellow duck toy, followed by peaceful afternoon naps.

Last but not least we have Clover. She is also a Labrador crossed with a golden retriever, with a mum called Unity, and a dad called Ippy. Clover loves exploring the world around her, playing with her favourite rope toy, before winding down for a cosy cuddle.

Newdigate United FC are a sunday league football team currently competing in the Nuneaton & District Sunday Football League Division 2. They were founded at the beginning of 2024 and have since become recognised as one of the local area’s best teams, earning promotion and winning the league cup in their first season last season. At Windseal we saw an opportunity to help fund the club, and help to allow these young men access to the things they need to help them on their journey. They are currently unbeaten this season, winning 9 of their games, and drawing twice, scoring 56 goals in the process.

The Bedworth Nursing Cup is the oldest amateur cup competition in the country, having been founded in 1908. It was due to fold this year and not run again. However, a new committee comprised of local businessmen, and some football enthusiasts have taken the reigns, and are steering the competition to one of its most successful seasons to date. This is something that here at Windseal we believed really deserves to be supported and we were honoured to be offered the role of senior cup main sponsors.

This year’s competition is already at the final stages for the juniors, and the semi final stages for the senior cup, with one quarter final still to also be played. We will be present at all of the finals and can’t wait to see the pinnacle of this competition in all of its glory.
