An elegant timeless statement ….
An orangery was a building frequently found in the grounds of fashionable residences from the 17th to the 19th centuries.
The orangery was similar to a greenhouse or conservatory. The name reflects the original use of the building as a place where citrus trees were often wintered in tubs under cover, surviving through harsh frosts.
These days Orangeries are more functional, often used as a living space, whilst keeping the traditional looks of yesteryear.
Using the best windows and doors will make a big difference to the quality of your conservatory.

Each Orangery is manufactured using the highest grade materials and to the finest of tolerances to provide a tight seal that keeps the winters chill and summer’s heat at bay. In short, a room you can live with for a long, long time.
Overheating, glare and fading of furnishings – these are
the main effects of the sun that can be controlled easily with our top of the range Orangery roof. By using Climate Control Toughened glazing in our heavy duty roofing system we can significantly counter all three of these effects in one. For example, these units will reflect up to 62% of the sun’s heat – which is twice as effective as a standard double glazed unit. They will also reduce uncomfortable glare from the sun by over 50% and reduce the transmission of harmful UV rays, which cause furnishings to fade by up to 83%.
Most people, particularly those investing in a large Orangery, like a more neutral finish to the roof glazing as this seems to give a classier overall feel. For this reason we use clear roof glazing as standard, however various tints are available if you prefer.
One of the other reasons to choose a glass roof over a polycarbonate roof, visual aspects aside, is the positive impact glass has on sound reduction. Anyone who has been in a conservatory with a polycarbonate roof when it’s raining knows exactly what I am talking about!
As with all our products, the greatest of care is taken by our team to ensure that your finished Orangery is something to be proud of. Choose Windseal Double Glazing for peace of mind every time!
